Simply painting over a motorcycle part just isn't possible. That won't go at all well. The part or specific area must be properly pretreated, derusted, smoothed, ground and cleaned. And then you need a professional primer: presto Epoxy primer, for example, like the 400 ml aerosol can shown here. You can prime an area of roughly 1 m² with this, which makes it eminently suitable for painting parts and for "spot repairs".
