QUALITY MADE IN GERMANY!
By purchasing this item you have chosen a premium-quality product with superior German workmanship. This internationally acknowledged mark of quality means that this product is the result of efficiently coordinated development and production processes, technological expertise, continuous quality controls.
Technical accessories whose operational safety depends not only on their own strength and function, but also on proper installation on the vehicle, are often supplied with a TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association) certificate. The user is obliged to have such accessories immediately registered in the vehicle papers by a TÜV test centre. This also involves the TÜV inspector checking the vehicle's operational safety. A charge is made for such registration.
Today, TÜV reports are increasingly issued for specific types of vehicle. However, no manufacturer is able (e.g. for cost reasons) to have their products tested on all vehicles which might use them. If a vehicle model is not listed, it is the inspector who has to decide about registration on the basis of his technical expertise; the strength of the product and its roadworthiness are confirmed by the existing TÜV report.
Since 2002, TÜV only accepts component certificates which include verification of the manufacturer's quality management system according to the requirements of §19 Appendix XIX of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) in the form of a valid certification document. Older reports can now only be used in exceptional circumstances in the course of a full technical inspection (Bauratabnahme), but the inspector is by no means obliged to make the entry in the papers.
Fehling High Bars
FEHLING High Bars:
Classic, beautifully curved "apehangers" for choppers, bobbers, hardcore and old-school machines. Not too extreme in terms of height, and featuring comfortably angled bar ends. Compatible with Japanese bikes with an imperial handlebar mount, and with Harleys thanks to a practical wiring dimple for typical Harley handlebar controls from 1982 onward. Available in high-quality chromed finish and black. Includes TÜV test certificate valid for Germany. Dimensions: Diameter 1" (25.4 mm), W: 905, H: 280, D: 195.
Note: The "HD handlebar dimple" is a depression on the underside of each handlebar end, required for Harley-Davidson models with 1" handlebars made from '82 onwards, so that the handlebar cable does not get trapped between the handlebar and the instruments. This "dimple" is no obstacle to using the handlebar with bikes from other manufacturers or on Harleys built before '82, and is not visible to the rider.
Note: Aftermarket handlebars are supplied without a hole for securing the switch unit. Positioning varies depending on the bike model. Drilling into the handlebar for securing purposes is permitted: First, ensure that your new handlebar is optimally aligned with the bike. Try out the positioning of the switch units, making sure that they do not hit the tank when the handlebar is fully turned. Mark the securing hole and drill the handlebar to the right diameter. To make sure that the drill doesn't slip on the smooth handlebar tube, or if you are prone to mistakes when centre punching or somehow not drilling straight, you should use the LSL drilling jig, Order no. 10005224 (see bottom of picture). This is the sure way to avoid such mistakes.
